Yesterday afternoon CIYMS hosted Belfast rivals Grosvenor in a Kukri Ulster Rugby Division 1 league game at Belmont.

The game was barely a couple of minutes old when, Andrew Kelly scored for Grosvenor under the posts. Allen McCluggage was successful with the conversion.

Shortly after CIYMS equalised when, after a break, Gareth Peden dotted down beside the posts, Matthew Kilgore converting. The game ebbed and flowed before CIYMS took control with a penalty goal from Kilgore and a Nathan Burns try in the corner, superbly converted by that man Kilgore.

Just before half time, following a chip and chase McCluggage crossed in the right corner to leave the half time score 17 – 12 in CIYMS’ favour.

After the break it was nip and tuck until midway through the half, when Grosvenor scored their 3rd try through  Matthew Fitzsimmons, McCluggage adding the extras to take the lead.

Grosvenor finished the stronger scoring a 4th try through Peter Davison to take the win with a bonus point following their 17 – 24 victory.
