PRO12: Ulster 41 Edinburgh 17

Ulster made a welcome return to winning ways scoring five tries in a  41 – 17 romp against Edinburgh at Ravenhill last night.

Craig Gliroy led the way scoring two tries on his return to action after injury, and Paul Marshall, Robbie Diack and James McKinney also touched down with McKinney adding five conversions and two penalties in a flawless kicking display.

I’m glad Ulster turned this one round after a woeful first quarter. The usually reliable Michael Allen had just put up all the resistance of a turnstile as Edinburgh’s Du Preez brushed him aside for the opening score and when Henderson limped off moments later I though it was going to be one of those nights.

Enter Dan Tuohy, the forgotten man of Irish rugby. His non inclusion in any of the Irish Autumn Internationals was a disgrace and he played like a man with a point to prove as he smashed and bashed the hapless Scotties out of his way through fair means and foul – lush!

Big Dan . . .
