ulster120 This was a deeply depressing match as Ulster capitulated to a fairly average Dragons side.

With 35+ fans watching the events unfold at The Rosie things went flat fairly quickly as the Dragons ran in their first try after 13 minutes of scrappy play by both sides.

As time went on the worse Ulster looked. In the friendlies this season Ulster had been looking to play on the front foot in attack and defence but the sorry fact from this game was that there was only one team up for it and that was the Dragons. The Welsh side were in Ulster’s faces with their abrasive defence and quite frankly they outmuscled them at the breakdown, which was deeply disappointing.

Despite Ulster having a few chances they lacked confidence and the limited opportunities were not finished off.  However Humphreys managed to slot over a penalty, against the wind, to keep Ulster in the game, turning round at 8 – 3.

Ulster appeared to start the second half well and put pressure on the home side but a break out by the Dragons, which resulted in three points, seemed to knock the stuffing out of them completely.

Humphreys got another penalty soon after but the Dragons responded with another soft try and three minutes later the Dragons crossed again. The seven points to pretty much wrapped up the game with the score now at 23 – 6.

Ulster huffed and puffed for the remaining 15 minutes but, despite the Dragons pretty much coasting now, they failed to get close to bothering the score board with their only clear cut chance being knocked on a few feet from the line.

All in all a harsh lesson for Ulster’s new management team. I wouldn’t like to be sitting next to Buzz on the way home!

Ulster weren’t the only ones miss firing as The Rosie managed to run out of ballot tickets for the draw for a pair of terrace tickets for the Ulster v Edinburgh game. After a bit of bodging the draw was held the end of the game with Mr Ron Millar walking away with the prize.

We’ll let you know during the week what the arrangements are for next Saturday’s game against the Ospreys.

Nope – saving beer tokens for Brussels!!! Admire your faith though – Liberty is lonely place when on the receiving end of a drubbing…

Not me either, can’t face an even longer trip down the M4 to watch more of the same so quickly…time is a healer and I’m hoping I will calm down soon. Pitza, Pasta and Peroni on my list of banned substances in honour of that hapless Italian who played his part in ruining my Sunday afternoon.

Well done FRU for organising the Rosie – good crowd and great atmosphere when we were in charge of the game (in the first 5 minutes!).

We’ll give the Rosie a wave from Swansea next week – 4 of the boys on tour going – things can only get better! Can’t they?

He usually does give them a bit of a team talk after the game at away matches!

He’s going to the Ospreys this weekend so they have been warned!

Over-excited fan has good teeth for a 40-year-old. Pity about the rest of him. Well done Dewi for organising the Rosie. Shame you were drinking Coke. Fruit.
