On Sunday, as part one of a double header, Lisngarvey and Cookstown met in the semi final of the Kirk Cup, at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club. The Kirk Cup is usually an annual Boxing Day fixture, but was postponed to the end of the season, because of post Covid fixture congestion.
Both sides played some very free flowing hockey in the first few minutes. Garvey started the brighter, with a Daniel Nelson goal in the 9th minute, and led at the end of the 1st quarter.
Cookstown equalised after 20 minutes, through Max Anderson, but the advantage was lost immediately, when a minute later, Troy Chambers scored for Garvey, for a 2-1 halftime lead.
