We caught up with the Ulster Senior Cup Quarter Final match between Malone and Ballynahinch at Gibson Park on Saturday afternoon.

Hinch kept the pressure on, taking advantage of the wind at their backs and increased their lead when No 20, Matthew Booth drove across, the extra points being added by Conor Rankin to push the score to 0 – 12.

Booth duplicated the move later on in the half, crashing over near the posts, Rankin again converting to move it along to 0 – 19.

Hinch took the score to 0 – 24 when their captain, Bradley Luney crashed over just before the halftime whistle.

The second half produced no further scoring with Malone driving at the visitors who stood strong and contained the home side.

Driving rain and gusting winds played havoc with the kicking so it was mainly the rucking & scrums that proved decisive with Ballynahich countering all that was thrown at them.

A lot of effort in the second half but no further scoring, Hinch progressing to the semi finals by virtue of a 0 – 24 win.
