United Rugby Championship: Ulster 19 Munster 22

On Friday evening Ulster hosted Munster in a United Rugby Championship Fixture at Ravenhill. Ulster were on a 4 game losing streak and needed to turn their season around.

Ulster started as though they meant business, forcing Munster back. After several drives close to the Munster line Tom O’Toole powered over from close range for the opening score. John Cooney’s conversion had Ulster 7-0 up in 8 minutes.

Ulster continued to batter the Munster line but were unable to increase their lead.

Tom Farrell scores the 1st of his hat trick of tries

On 28 minutes Munster opened their account, against the run of play with their first real attack. From a clearance kick Munster ran the ball from deep putting Tom Farrell in the clear to slide over in the corner for 5-7. 

Ulster lost Tom O’Toole to a red card for a crocodile roll at a ruck . . .
