Junior Cup: Banbridge 5 Queen’s University 48 Semi Final

On a grey and dreich Sunday afternoon, Rifle Park was the venue for the Women’s Junior Cup Semi Final between Banbridge and Queens. A strong diagonal wind blew down the pitch, in Queens favour in the 1st half.

Queens took the game to Banbridge from kick off trapping Banbridge between their goal line and 22. After surviving several goal line stands Banbridge lifted the siege. 

From a Banbridge lineout in the Queens 22 Jemma Farrell intercepted a looping pass to score to give Banbridge a 5-0 lead, against the run of play, after 11 minutes.

Ruby Starrett opened the scoring for Queens

Queens tormented the Banbridge defence. Eventually, after several drives, Ruby Starrett crashed over for Queens opening score to tie the game 5-5, after 17 minutes.
