Club Friendly: Ballyclare 51 Queen’s University 5

We caught up with newly promoted Ballyclare RFC and a Queen’s University squad for a pre-season friendly at The Cloughan on Saturday afternoon. The match was played over three 25 minute periods.

First Period.

Ballyclare were first to strike with scrum half, James Creighton bursting through to touch down, converted by No 15, Mark Jackson. Soon after, Creighton again squirmed his way through the Queens defence in almost a carbon copy of his first try, this time converted by No 10, Alex Darragh to give the home side a 14 – 0 lead at the end of the first period.

James Creighton picked up an early brace for Ballyclare.

Second Period.

Ballyclare again dominated with No 14, Peter Gillespie, diving over to score and No 10, Darragh again converting. No 4, David Gillespie added to . . .
