Irish Hockey Challenge: Bangor (3) 6 Kilkeel (3) 5 AR Women’s Final

I caught up with the Irish Hockey Women’s Challenge Final between Bangor and Kilkeel at Comber Road on a sunny Saturday morning.

Bangor started brightly and had the better of the first quarter. They were able to capitalise on their possession with a 15th minute goal from Hannah Lawden, who turned in a Brooke Stranaghan shot, to give Bangor a 1 – 0 lead which they took into the second quarter.

Sullivan Upper star Hannah Lawden opened the scoring for Bangor.

Kilkeel came more into the game but Bangor continued to make chances and they extended their lead to 2 – 0 after a sharp backstick shot from the edge of the D by Ruby Monaghan on the 28th minute.
