2nd XV League: Queens II 14 Ballymena II 19

On Saturday Queens II met Ballymena II at The Dub Playing Fields, as part of a double header with their respective 1st XVs. Because in a mix up in kick off times the ref arrived late and the 1.00pm KO became a 1.45pm KO. I took in the first 25 minutes of this Ulster Rugby 2nd XV League game, before moving down to the Arena pitch.

There is not much shelter at the upper rugby pitch & an icy cold strong wind blew down the pitch. As the wind numbed hands, so handling became an issue.

Queens were content to keep the ball tight in the pack & run the clock down, hoping to take advantage of the 2nd half wind.

Matthew Dick broke away & ran in for Ballymena’s 1st try
