Schools U16 Cup: Royal Belfast Academical Institution 26 Ballymena Academy 17

On a pleasant, sunny Wednesday afternoon Ballymena Academy U16 travelled to Cranmore, to play Royal Belfast Academical Institution U16 in the Schools U16 Cup.

James Kerr opened the scoring after 3 minutes

Inst caught Ballymena cold from kick off. An attack from deep, after 3 minutes, allowed James Kerr to race in from his own half to score behind the posts. Ben McCausland’s conversion gave Inst a 7 – 0 lead.

Harry Beggs scored in the corner to give Inst a 12-0 lead

Worse was to follow for Ballymena. From another attack from deep Harry Beggs went over in the right corner for an unconverted try . . .
