At Saturday lunchtime Portadown and Queens met at Edenvilla Sports Complex, Portadown, in an Ulster Premier League game.

In a high scoring 1^st quarter, Queens took the lead on 4 minutes, when Philip Campbell scored from close range. Portadown replied 2 minutes later when Ross Beattie scored to level the game.

Matthew Thompson‘s strike after 10 minutes, followed by a 2^nd Campbell goal gave Queens a 3-1 lead at the end of the 1^st quarter.

Despite Queens pressure the 2^nd quarter was scoreless, leaving Queens with a 3-1 halftime lead.

Portadown responded in the scoreless 3^rd quarter forcing a number of saves from the Queens’ keeper.

Finally in the 58^th minute, Portadown got their reward when Matthew Winter scored. There were a nervous final couple of minutes for Queens, but they held on, thanks to a disallowed Portadown effort, for a 3-2 victory.
