Women Four Nations: Ireland U19 5 Wales U19 0

Ireland U19 Women and their Welsh counterparts went head to head for the second time in their Four Nations match on Sunday at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown Sports Arena with Ireland coming out on top 5 – 0 in an entertaining encounter.

Ireland mixed up their squad for this game but Wales stuck with the same players and the early morning start and damp conditions appeared to suit the visitors who looked particularly sharp in the opening exchanges.

Wales enjoyed the better of the first quarter with and to the fore and they must be wondering how they went into the first break without a score to their name.

Ireland slowly worked their way back and a second quarter goal from the impressive Leah O’Shea seemed to settle the team who began to get on top.

The hard working Aisling Murray picked up Ireland’s second seven minutes later to see Ireland go into half time with a 2 – 0 lead.

Ireland picked up another couple of goals as they started to dominate possession with scoring before O’Shea picked up her second.

Wales had their chances but they struggled to be as clinical as the Irish players in front of goal, a long range effort from defender probably their best effort, they did however keep Ireland on the back foot for most of the final quarter but an energetic display from Ireland’s ended with finding the back of the net to give Ireland a 5 – 0 win.
