Junior Shield: Ards 13 Carrickfergus 17 Final

It was grey, overcast, cold and windy, at the Kingspan Stadium on Saturday for the first game in a doubleheader, the Junior Shield Final between Ards and Carrickfergus. A cold crosswind blew across the pitch.

Ards found themselves under pressure but cleared their lines and lost an early scoring chance with a missed penalty.

Carrick took the lead when Gareth McKeown crossed unopposed for Fionn McCormack to convert to lead 7-0.

John Turner added a 2nd try for Carrick

It got worse for Ards when John Turner crashed over for Fionn McCormack to again add the points to put Carrick 14-0 up.
