Women’s Premiership: Malone 0 Queen’s University 43

I caught up with the Women’s Premiership match between Malone and Queen’s University at Gibson Park on Wednesday evening.

It was an entertaining game with both teams having extended periods of possession in a hard fought first half.

Queen’s finally broke down the resolute Malone defence, 15 minutes in, after a sustained period of possession ended with Sarah Roberts going over in the corner. Megan Creighton added the difficult conversion for a 0 – 7 lead.

Lauren Maginnes had her usual strong game for Malone

Malone enjoyed a few good periods of possession themselves over the next 20 minutes, with Lauren Maginnes leading the charge, but they were unable to break down the hard working defence from the students who went 0 – 14 up after Roberts went over for her second try, Creighton again converting.

Queen’s continued to make their chances count and a break by Ciara Fitzsimons ended . . .
