Subsidiary Shield: Campbell College 38 Coleraine Grammar 7

We caught up with the Ulster Schools Subsidiary Shield quarter final between Campbell College and Coleraine Grammar at Fox’s Field on Saturday morning.

Coleraine got off to the best of starts when Campbell attempted a switch play from the back of a scrum and Coleraine scrum half Oliver McClean read the play, neatly intercepted the pass and raced unopposed to dot down between the posts, with the extras comfortably added by the full back for a 0 – 7 lead.

However, four minutes later Campbell mauled their way over the line from an attacking line out, hooker Jed Dornan falling to the deck to record the try. Conversion from out wide was narrowly missed by out half Henry Ralston to leave the score at 5 – 7.

Campbell were soon back on the attack and another line out saw Conor McKinney peel off the back to smash over . . .
