Medallion Shield: Larne Grammar 26 Enniskillen Royal Grammar 7 Round 3

I caught up with the Medallion Shield third round match between Larne Grammar and Enniskillen Royal Grammar at Lower Cairncastle Road on Saturday morning.

I’d been looking forward to catching Larne medallion in cup action after they impressed in an early season blitz and they didn’t disappoint.

Enniskillen applied early pressure on the Larne defence.

Enniskillen certainly put them to the test in the opening 15 minutes as they relentlessly attacked the Larne line in the opening exchanges. Larne defended well, with their backs to the wall, but they also rode their luck to finish this period of Enniskillen dominance with their try line uncrossed.

The home team worked their way out of their own half mid way through the half and after a couple of attacking lineout they opened the scoring with a try from Sam Boyd from close range. Jonnie Kennedy added the extras to give Larne a 7 – 0 . . .
