Women’s AIL: Cooke 0 Old Belvedere 50

My last call of the day was to Shawsbridge to take in the 1st half of the Women’s All Ireland League fixture between Cooke and Old Belvedere. Cooke languished near the foot of the table with one win. Belvedere hadn’t hit their straps this season had two wins. At least it wasn’t raining, like last time!

On a cool dry evening, under floodlights Belvo settled quickly. Emma Tilly opened the scoring on 6 minutes when she rounded the Cooke defence on the left to dot down close to the posts. Ellie Sullivan Sexton’s conversion had Belvo 7-0 up.

Cooke’s defence held firm in the face of waves of attacks until the 25th minute. Megan Edwards found space on the right to score and with Ellie Sullivan Sexton’s conversion put Belvo 14-0 up.

Only 2 minutes later Aoife Dalton increased Belvo’s lead to 19-0.
