Women Premier: Queens 2 Belfast Harlequins 1

The Dub, Upper Malone, was the very wet venue for the women Premier fixture between Queens and visitors, Belfast Harlequins. A win was sufficient to see Queens lift the league title. However, Quins had not read the script!

From push back Quins harried Queens not allowing them to settle and starving their forward line of possession. Perhaps it was the occasion, but Queens lacked cohesion, with Quins cutting out passes and generally making a nuisance of themselves.

Susie McCollum opened the scoring for Quins

Both sides worked chances, but it was Quins who took the lead in the closing moments of the 1st quarter, when Susie McCollum converted a penalty corner.

Quins were on top in the 2nd quarter and created chances. Queens were lethargic and couldn’t put passes . . .
