Subsidiary Shield: Larne Grammar 19 Dromore High 22 Quarter Final

The big match on Saturday morning was, of course, the Subsidiary Shield quarter final between, my old school, Larne Grammar and our friends at Dromore High at Lower Cairncastle Road, though it did seem, at times, that our cameraman was the only one feeling the love in what was a tight, tense and entertaining encounter.

Dromore applied the early pressure but a wonder try by Larne’s Charlie Patterson opened the scoring. The Larne fullback getting the ball in his own 22 to outstrip the Dromore defence out wide before finishing under the posts. Ethan Duncan added the extras to give Larne a 7 – 0 lead.

A fantastic run from Charlie Patterson opened the scoring for Larne.

The High School hit back four minutes later as prop Macauley McCandless-Woodside bundled over after a period of pressure . . .
