It was grey, overcast, and misty for the 10.00am kick in east Belfast of the Medallion Shield match between Grosvenor Grammar School and Bangor Academy.

Grosvenor started at pace, scoring in 3 minutes, when Dylan McCabe ran from deep around the Bangor defenders for a 5-0. He repeated his score when he fielded a loose kick to run in for a 10-0 Grosvenor lead after 15 minutes.

Bangor couldn’t break through a robust Grosvenor defence

Bangor steadied and had a period of pressure close to the Grosvenor line, before Grosvenor broke out for Sam McGuiness to score and James Campbell to convert for a 17-0 lead. Grosvenor piled it on. Reuben Hargie’s try, on 25 minutes and Campbell’s try and conversion, just before halftime gave Grosvenor a commanding . . .
