Men All Ireland : Lisnagarvey 1 Banbridge 4

We caught up with the early evening All Ireland Hockey League match between Lisnagarvey and Banbridge on Saturday at Comber Road.

The local derby is always keenly contested and this one was no different.

Matthew Nelson set the pace for Garvey by scoring in the second minute of the game, catching the opposition off guard and giving Garvey a 1 – 0 lead.

All high fives for Garvey’s Matthew nelson after opening the scoring against Banbridge.

However, their advantage was short-lived as Jake Rowe equalized for Banbridge with a well-converted penalty corner in the 15th minute. Banbridge seized the momentum and took control of the match when Louis Rowe found the back of the net in the 17th minute, giving them a 1 – 2 lead which they held until half time.
