I nipped over the Stormont for the afternoon Gordon West Cup Tie between Civil Service and Co Cavan.
From kick off Cavan pressed Service back into their ‘22’. Service found it difficult to get out of their own half and, at times, kicked hard earned possession away. That said 30 minutes of play only yielded only 2 penalty goals from Brandon Cooke, before Cruz Hepi’s opening try and Cooke’s conversion gave Cavan a 13-0 lead.

The Service defence, which up until then had shown defiance, crumbled. A Cooke try, 33 minutes, followed by tries from Josh Cherry, 37 minutes, and Niall Ward, 40 minutes, one converted by Cooke, gave Cavan a 30-0 halftime lead.
