Women All Ireland: Ards 1 Pegasus 2

We caught up with one of the premier sporting fixtures in Ulster on Saturday afternoon as Ards hosted Pegasus in the All Ireland Hockey League at Londonderry Park.

Pegasus went into the game on the back of a couple of big wins and were looking to continue their push for a top four finish and Ards were looking to start their climb up the table having consolidated their promotion in the first half of the season.

Sometimes these games can take a while to get going as the teams look to sound each other out but this one was pretty direct from the pass back with Ards flooding forward in search of an early goal. Pegasus were content to sit back and look for a quick break but the home team got reward for their efforts when Sophie “Wonder” Kidd calmly slotted in a penalty corner chance on the 14th minute to give Ards a 1 – 0 lead.
