All Ireland League 2A: Queens 42 Ballymena 25

On Saturday Queens met Ballymena at the Queens Arena, in an AIL2A League fixture.

The icy wind, blowing down pitch, had not dissipated by the 2.30pm KO, only now rain added to the handling problems.

David Whitten broke away to open the scoring for Queens

Ballymena, couldn’t take advantage of the elements and Queens moved into the lead when David Whitten broke away to score under the posts. Stuart Martin added the points for Queens to lead 7 – 0 after 9 minutes.

Ballymena replied with a 15th minute Ross McKay penalty goal to make it 7 – 3, before Curtis Pollock’s try and Martin’s conversion put Queens 14 – 3 up after 22 minutes.
