Championship Women: Ballynahinch 22 Randalstown 5

On a very dark and grey Sunday lunchtime, Ballynahinch hosted Randalstown in an Ulster Women’s Championship game. The rain started just in time for kick off.

Whether it was overhead or underfoot conditions, but this was a game fought in the trenches, between the packs.

Initially most play was between the 22s. As neither pack could gain control, it was a war of attrition.

Ballynahinch eventually started to get on top and laid siege to the Randalstown line for 10 minutes. Having sucked in the defence, the ball was released to the backs for Rachel Morton to go over midway out for a try and a 5 – 0 lead after 25 minutes.
