Ulster Rugby Championship: Cooke 59 Limavady 17 D1

I popped up to Shaw’s Bridge for the Championship 1 clash between Cooke and Limavady, a little later than planned on Saturday afternoon thanks to the thrilling finale at the hockey at Newforge.

The game was about 20 minutes old when I arrived there and Cooke were leading 12 – 7. The home team were looking to build on their solid start to this season’s campaign with two wins out of three. Limavady, who have struggled this season after getting promoted from D2, were looking to get up to speed with the pace of the games in the higher division.

Limavady were on the attack when I arrived, but it was to be a game where the fine margins went against them, the ball was turned over after a series of phases and Cooke cleared upfield for Cooke . . .
