Ulster Premiership 1: Ballymena 26 Queen’s University 31

Ballymena hosted AIL 2A rivals Queen’s University for a Ulster Rugby Premiership 1 clash on a wet Saturday afternoon at Eaton Park. Report and pictures by Cyril Boyd.

Despite the wet conditions both teams opened the game with fast, attacking rugby with Queens getting the majority of the possession. It was this possession which drew first blood with a forward’s driving try by No 1 Niall Carville in the corner to give Queen’s a 0 – 5 lead.

Ballymena were having none of that and went straight up to the opposite end with their No 8, James Howe driving over for the equalising score, nicely converted by Louis McGuckian to take them 7 – 5 ahead.
