On Tuesday Markethill High School played Co Armagh rivals Portadown College in the final of the Taylor Cup at Havelock Park, Banbridge.
From push back a very cohesive Portadown side set about closing down Markethill’s possession. A Danny Guy close range effort opened the Portadown scoring after 2 minutes.
It took to the end of the 1st quarter for Portadown to double their lead, despite seemingly relentless attacks. Ben Henderson scored from close range to given Portadown a 2-0 1st quarter lead.
It was only sterling efforts from the Markethill keeper than kept the 2nd quarter scoreless frustrating Portadown’s forwards.
