Provincial Premier 1: Carrickfergus II 5 Belfast Harlequins II 10

I picked up this match between my Schools Cup and Town’s Cup matches and having caught up with Carrick IIs a few weeks ago against Banbridge IIIs in a Crawford’s Cup match and I was expecting a similarly entertaining game.

Unfortunately, this one was all about the hard yards in a bit of a bad tempered arm wrestle in worsening conditions with neither side really reaching the heights they are capable off.

It was all a bit of an arm wrestle in the middle of the park during the first half.

Due to traffic congestion at Ballyclare post the schools match I was a bit late getting to this one and Carrick were already 5 – 0 up after a try by Davie Ferris about 15 minutes in. The rest of the half was fairly uneventful with neither . . .
