Championship 1: Cooke 14 Dromore 19

I’ve been really enjoying the Championship 1 this season, with some hugely competitive games served up so far, and this was another entertaining game as Cooke and Dromore went head to head at Shaws Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

I arrived a bit late at this one, the match was still scoreless but it was Dromore that were applying the pressure deep in Cooke territory. Cooke were restricted to the occasional break but the big Dromore pack appeared to have the edge at the breakdown and the visitors were soon back on the attack.

The pressure told and Dromore finally got their reward with Brian McClearn going over out on the right for the opening score. The conversion was missed but captain Adam McDonald was soon stepping up for another go after his namesake, second row, Adam McDonald bundled over for the visitors second try five minutes later. The McDonald double act moving the score to 0 – 12 in Dromore’s favour after 25 minutes.
