Instonians entertained AIL 2B visitors, Dungannon, in a friendly, at Shaw’s Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

Dungannon attacked from kick off and after a series of rucks, close to the Instonians line, the visitors engineered an overlap on the left for Caolin Mulgrew to score, converted by Jordan McIlwaine, after 4 minutes.

For long periods Instonians held their own in scrummages and they plundered a number of Dungannon lines out, but Dungannon’s back line always had superiority.

Dungannon tries followed on 25 minutes from Richard McGregor and McIlwaine, both converted by McIlwaine.

In the last move of the first half Instonians Jordan Heatley got in at the corner for an unconverted try, to leave Dungannon leading 21-5 at the break.

The second half was defense orientated, yielding a solitary Matthew Stockdale try for Dungannon to give the visitors a deserved 5 – 26 win.
