Methodist College, Belfast hosted Ipswich Grammar School from Brisbane, Australia at Pirrie Park on Monday afternoon.

Ipswich GS are playing a series of games as part of their European Tour which includes visits to Dublin, Belfast, Liverpool, Gloucester, London, Ypres, and Paris.

Methody started the game as they meant to go on. They pressed for 30 minutes, with Ipswich Grammar rarely getting out of their ’22’.

Methodist College apply early pressure.

However, the stubborn visiting defence held firm and when a loose Methody pass was picked up in the Ipswich ’22’, the Ipswich centre ran 80 metres for a converted try in the corner.

A break by Ipswich Grammar opens the scoring

Within a minute Melody were level through a try, converted by Calum Davidson, and 2 minutes later the home team took the lead with a try, again converted by Davidson, to leave the half time score 14-7 in Methody’s favour.

The second half continued where the first half left off.

Methody wrap up the game with two more tries in the second half

Methody camped in the Ipswich half. Occasional Ipswich forays were snuffled out and Methody scored 2 further tries through and , one converted by Davidson.

Methody thoroughly deserved their 26 – 7 comprehensive victory
