Schools Friendly: Coleraine Grammar 31 Wallace High 7.

Coleraine Grammar welcomed Wallace High to their Riverside playing fields on Saturday morning for a senior squad hit out, with the hosts recording a 31 – 7 win in an entertaining game. 

With both teams resting the bulk of their 1st XV starters the game broke down a few times, due to lack of familiarity, but there were more than a few players that caught they eye. 

Coleraine got of the mark early with a try from in the opening minutes, added the conversion to give Coleraine a 7 – 0 lead.

Wallace looked for a response and applied pressure in the Coleraine half but they were unable to break down the home sides defence. In contrast , Coleraine looked to pick up points in their limited incursions into the Wallace red zone with Caskey landing a penalty before sliced through midfield for their second try, this one under the posts.

Caskey added the extras to give the Coleraine a 17 – 0 lead at the break.

Wallace went over for their only score early in the second half with hitting the line after a period of sustained pressure. The try was converted making it a 10 point game.

However, as both sides swapped out their players it was Coleraine who dominated  with  No 2 and No 12 both scoring, after impressive runs, to wrap up the game.
