Club Women: AIL Round 7 Review

It was all Saturday night lights for the All Ireland League Women’s matches this weekend, with Galwegians having a rest week. The FRU were able to cover two of the three matches from this weekend’s games, check out our match reports and galleries for Blackrock v Cooke and St Mary’s v UL Bohemians.

Women’s AIL Top Scorers.

The total points scored in the All Ireland League now reached 869 points after 110 points were scored this weekend. U.L Bohemians have now the most points scored on 188, with Railway Union in second on 178 and Old Belvedere in third with 155 points.

Galwegians’ Denise Redmond loses out on the top points scorer to UL Bohemian’s Niamh Briggs, Redmond remains on 45 points after a bye this week and Briggs moves on 65 after 2 tries and 5 conversions. Blackrock’s Hannah O’Connor strengthens her grip on third with 2 conversions and a penalty this week giving her 35 points.

After this weekends games top scorer Niamh Byrne, is joined at the top of the table by Gemma Matthews and Chloe Pearse and a try and two tries each respectively. There are now 10 players on 4 tries also, so the lead at the top is narrow.
