Club Women: Malone 53 Omagh 0

Malone entertained Omagh on a wet Friday night at Gibson Park for an Ulster Women’s Conference Division 1 match. The home side continued their dominance of the league with a 53 – 0 win.

Given the terrible conditions throughout the day it was a credit to both teams that the match was played and a big pat on the back for the Gibson Park ground staff who served up two playable pitches after 24 hours of incessant rain.

As it was the match didn’t kick off until after 8:00 pm with Omagh delayed due to the poor weather. The rain had just about stopped but the lighting on Pitch 2 wasn’t the best so the pictures are a touch grainy or “atmospheric” as us photographers call them :-).

In the end a well drilled Malone side ran in nine tries with , , (2), , (2) and all crossing with adding three conversions and Ali Boal one.

The match wasn’t as one sided as the score line suggests with Omagh enjoying sustained periods in attack, their final ball just letting them down on a couple of occasions.
