Ulster A recorded their second win in the Celtic Cup with a 27 – 19 win against the Dragons A at Ballymena Rugby Club on saturday afternoon.
Once again schoolboy Aaron Sexton was the star of the show scoring a brace of tries for the Ulster side. The returning Johnny McPhillips gave his boot a good work out knocking over five penalties and one conversion to keep Ulster’s noses in front in the second half.
However, Ulster, who have shipped a total of 110 points in their four games, were once again generous in defence allowing their opponents to ourscore them three tries to two.
The full results from this weekend’s Celtic Cup matches are as follows.
|Leinster||53 – 7||Ospreys||Energia Park|
|Cardiff||32 – 33||Munster||Cardiff Arms|
|Scarlets||35 – 19||Connacht||Carmarthen RFC|
|Ulster||27 – 19||Dragons||Ballymena RFC|
The results put Leinster back in charge in the Irish Conference and Ulster’s failure to pick up a bonus point against the Dragons all but rules them out as they are now trailing Leinster by 10 points and the Dublin outfit have a superior points difference of +147 points over our lads.
However another two wins shouldn’t be out of the question for Ulster A in their remaining fixtures away to Ospreys and Connacht.
Scarlets have taken the lead this week in the Welsh conference by virtue of their two wins and their ability to pick up bonus points in every match so far.
The current standings in the Irish and Welsh Conferences are as follows.
