Wallace High came out on top 19 -16 in a full blooded encounter against Ballymena Academy on Saturday morning in Lisburn.
The home side enjoyed the best of the first half scoring two converted tries to take a 14 – 0 lead before Ballymena got on the scoreboard with a penalty.
The teams turned round with Wallace leading 14 – 3.
A converted try at the start of the second half got Ballymena back in the game and, with the visitors starting to get on top, two penalties pushed Ballymena into a 14 – 16 lead as the game went into its last ten minutes.
However, Wallace regrouped and they broke up field for an unconverted try out wide to take the score to 19 – 16. Ballymena threw everything at them in the closing minutes but Wallace held firm to record the win.
