The Guinness Carrick 7’s kicked off on Friday evening with eight teams competing in the Kukri Under 18’s Tournament at the Woodlawn Grounds.
The tournament was won by Belfast Met U18 after a tense final against BRA’s Pink Panthers. A late try from captain Sam Cardwell secured the 19 – 17 win after an early brace from Josh Richardson.

The flamboyant Pink Panthers had fought back, after Richardson’s early brace, scoring three tries to take a 17 – 12 lead going into the final minutes before Cardwell stepped up for a try and conversion to retake the lead in the dying minutes.
A tense final play saw the Panthers throw everything into getting the final score but the Met held on to claim the victory.
The results from the earlier rounds are as follows.
Carrick and Civil Service progressed to the Kukri Bowl Final with Belfast Met playing Ballyclare and the Pink Panthers facing City of Derry in the Cup semi finals.
Belfast Met and the Pink Panthers both won to progress to the Everest Cup Final with Ballyclare and City of Derry meeting in the Kukri Plate Final.
