All Ireland Cup Update.

The Women’s All Ireland Senior and Junior Cups progressed almost unnoticed last week. Mind you with a few bye’s and and few walkovers both the organisers and the clubs could work a bit harder to raise the profile and the participation in what should be one of Ireland Women’s Rugby showpiece events.

It’s a pity as the match we covered, Malone v Ballincollig, was great fun – but more of that later.

The Senior Cup kicked off early with Railway Union and Blackrock pulling their game forward to the Wednesday with Blackrock pushing their hosts harder than in their league visit a few days earlier though Railway still came out on top by 27 – 14.

On Sunday one of our feature matches, Cooke v Highfield, was a walk over for Cooke and in the two matches completed UL Bohemian had a substantial 89 – 19 win against St Mary’s and Old Belvedere romped to a 72 – 0 win against Shannon.
