Club: Instonians 26 Dromore 10

Top of the table Instonians secured a valuable 28 – 10 bonus point win against fourth place Dromore in the Kukri Ulster Rugby Championship Division 1 match.

Instonians’  scored the opening try after a series of line out steals and with landing the conversion the home side led 7 – 0 after a couple of minutes.

A Dromore penalty pulled the score back to 7 – 3 shortly after but the points continued to come thick and fast as crossed under the posts for a converted try to push Instonians lead to 14 – 3.

The match settled somewhat but Instonians were next to score when the ref awarded a penalty try, after a series of scrum infringements, and with the home side leading 21 – 3 after 30 minutes it looked as though they were going to run away with the game.

However, there were no further scores before half time and when the teams resumed it was Dromore that looked the more resolute and, as the half wore on, they created more and more chances.

The visitors were eventually rewarded for their efforts when they crossed for a converted try late on to take the score to 21 – 10. However, intense pressure from Instonians ended with full back  crossing out wide to secure the bonus point win with the last play of the game.
