With a midweek Schools Cup game, last week, and another one today (Monday) we decided to catch up with the Club U18 League on Saturday morning with Larne U18 entertaining league leaders Belfast Met at the Glynn.

The Met’s unbeaten run came to an end with Larne staging a second half fightback to secure a 19 – 7 win. The result should see Larne surge into the top two of the Ulster Carpets U18 East 2 League despite the Glynn outfit still having a few postponed games to catch up on.

Belfast Met took a 0 – 7 lead in a tight first half with Stuart Wightman scoring a converted try.

Larne came back with all guns blazing in the second half and the impressive James Smyth scored early before Jack Hill and Stewart Heggan also crossed.

The home side’s indiscipline almost let the visitors back into the game but the Larne defence, with Smyth to the fore, held firm giving the Glynn boys a 19 – 7 win.
