Friendly: Squads up for Leinster v Ulster

The squads have been announced for Saturday afternoon’s trial game between Leinster and Ulster at Navan RFC in the scenic Boyne Valley. Kick off 3:00pm.

I don’t think the lodges will be commemorating this battle in 300 years time as it appears it’ll be a fairly low key affair with both teams giving their “bubbling unders” a run out before finalising their senior and academy squads for the season.

Ulster’s Conall Boomer, Johnny McPhillips and Jacob Stockdale, who all appeared for Ireland in the 2016 World Rugby U20 Championship, have made the squad but Adam McBurney, who made the World Rugby Dream Team misses out, which is a surprise. Leinster have only called up two of their young Ireland U20’s stars in props Andrew Porter and Vakh Abdalaze.

Also included in the Ulster squad are Ireland 7’s players Aaron Cairns and Nick Timoney though it’ll probably be the performances of Rodney Ah You, Brett Herron and Angus Lloyd that attract most attention.
