The pools have been announced for the British and Irish Cup and Ulster A have been drawn in Pool 1 alongside London Scottish, Cardiff Blues PS and Jersey Reds.
The former Ravens, whose name changed after Ravenhill became Kingspan, have had a run of disappointing seasons in this competition, a run so bad that we had to pull our campaign to call them the Spanners as it was too close a descriptive as to how they were actually playing!
It’s disappointing that Ulster Rugby pay this competition so little regard as It could be a useful tool in developing, and keeping happy, the fringe players and the up and coming youngsters. However, that would require a commitment, in terms of finance and resources, something that Ulster Rugby seem loath to do, often throwing these teams together a day or two, or on some occasions on the morning, before a game.
Once again it has been decided to play these games the same weekend as European matches which would be useful if home . . .
