Ulster finished their European Cup Campaign in fine style with an eight try romp against Oyonnax at Ravenhill on Saturday afternoon.
Stand in captain Rob Herring opened the scoring and the tries came thick and fast with efforts from Darren Cave, Rory Scholes and Sean Reidy wrapping up the bonus point before half time. Scholes’ effort being a particularly fine move, kick started by Payne and passing through the hands of Luke Marshall and Paddy Jackson.
Craig Gilroy kick started the scoring in the second half with the impressive Robbie Diack and mercurial Ian Humphreys joining in before Jared Payne wrapped things up with a try of his own after having a hand in all things good about Ulster’s attacking play.
Paddy Jackson nailed five out of five conversions and Humphreys three out of three leaving the under fire out half Ulster’s leading scorer with eleven points!
It’s hard to pick out a Man of the Match with so many fine individual performances but I feed obligated to mention Rob Herring, Robbie Diack and Nick Williams up front together with Jared Payne, Paul Marshall and Paddy Jackson who all kept a lively tempo going throughout.
Not a lot else to say. It’s a question of sitting back and waiting to see how the rest of the matches turn out!
