Club: Scrum Doctor Diagnoses Larne RFC

Ireland Women’s Forwards Coach at the last World Cup, Peter Bracken (a.k.a. The Scrum Doctor), visited Larne RFC as a guest of the Front Row Union on Thursday night to deliver his coaching session in the latest scrummaging techniques.

I’ve been watching Peter’s work with Ireland Women, and more recently with Ulster Women, over the last few years and his ability to get the most out of the scrum is something I’ve been trying to get to local clubs, especially given the very impressive results he’s been getting in the women’s game at the highest level.

Fortunately we were able to make this happen this week with Peter leading a highly productive one and a half hour session at the picturesque Glynn playing fields and, it would be fair to say, the results were very impressive.

A broad range of players were taken through a structured programme which started with basic body shape, moving on to the power position, binding options and leg alignment before finished with half a dozen . . .
