ERCC: Ulster 13 Toulon 23

Ulster lost their second European Cup match on the bounce on Saturday afternoon, at Ravenhill. The 13 – 23 loss, to reigning European Champions Toulon, should prove fatal to any hopes of progressing past the Pool stages.

There is still something special about a Heineken Cup afternoon game. An early breakfast down the Harbour Diner, a packed train leaving Larne at 10:30, the scrum for Taxis at Central Station, big Stevie Ferris holding court in the Heineken Bar, the catch up with friends old and new. The stadium was built for days like this and I must admit it coped admirably, delivering it’s streamlined match day experience with ease, though maybe a little too streamlined for some of us old fogies!

The build up was somewhat derailed with the farce of the delayed removal . . .
