Ulster: Herbst confirmed but five more to leave.

As we’d predicted a month ago to the day in “Is there to be another dip in the Shark Tank?” Ulster have confirmed that Sharks tighthead Wiehahn Herbst will in fact be joining Ulster.

Unfortunately the other player we mentioned at the time, Keegan Daniel, won’t be joining as he has subsequently agreed a move to Japan.

At the time, we postulated that Herbst may be a replacement for Afoa but news of further departures from Ulster rugby has made us think that our “big” front row signings are yet to come.

On the back of the news of the departures of Chris Farrell (Grenoble) and Niall Annett (Worcester) we have also heard that Paddy McAllister, Adam Macklin, James McKinney, David McIlwaine and Ian Porter will all be leaving at the end of the season.

McKinney is heading back to Rotherham and McIlwaine has signed a two year deal with . . .

    We’ve signed two new props, Herbst and Murphy. Just thought I’d post this because you talked about 4 props leaving and only 1 joining.
