Rory Best, Chris Henry, Luke Marshall and Andrew Trimble will start for Ireland in Sunday’s Six Nation’s match against Scotland at the Aviva Stadium. Paddy Jackson and Dan Tuohy will start from the bench.

I’d read with some scepticism earlier this morning about an increased Ulster representations in the Ireland side and prepared myself for one starter and three on the bench but my pleasure in an increased, and fully justified, representation soon changed to annoyance as the first three questions tabled at the team announcement questioned the inclusion of Henry, Marshall and Trimble as the combined Irish press corps still struggle to come to terms with any sports north of the Boyne!

Schmidt quickly glossed over the error of his ways by attributing all the selections to injuries . . .

  1. Well said as usual Carol. Haven’t read any of it yet but I am preparing to be enraged lol! I’m hoping against hope, like James, he tries a few different combinations over the 4 games. Delighted for our Ulstermen and especially for big Dan And Trimby!!!!

  2. Carol

The press are being very clear that Trimble, Marshall and Henry are only included due to injury. Was disgusted with the half arsed manner in which Joe justified his inclusion of Trimble, or the fact he had to justify it at all.

  3. such a near sighted, conservative team. No eye on next year.

    1. Agreed James. Even the feckin English are blooding new guys. Dear God in Heaven. That said, glad to see a few faces not often seen, Trimby being one of them. Thought Jordi Murphy might have been given a place ……
