Autumn Series: Ireland 15 Australia 32

A lacklustre Ireland slumped to a 15 – 32 defeat against a developing Australia who looked too classy for the bumbling boys in green at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday evening.

Ireland were outscored by four tries to nil with 12 of their 15 points coming from the boot of Jonny Sexton and the other three from the boot of, second half replacement, Ian Madigan.

Yet again it was a lot of travelling for me this week and I didn’t read the Ireland team until Saturday morning, only to find myself outraged by the non inclusion of Dan Tuohy – the in form second row in Ireland at the moment. It certainly gave me a few concerns about the credibility of any coaching side that opted to select Twerking Toner ahead of Dangerous Dan. The lanky Leinster player may divert a couple of lineouts your way but the scrums would suffer!

So it proved, with an uneven distribution of power in the second row, and Peter O’Mahoney . . .

Just glad I didn’t pay money to go to Dublin to watch this one!!!! So much for the new coach new chance for everyone ethos – Tuohy, Trimble and PJ need I say any more!! As for the comment from Schmidt that he was hoping for a big 2 weeks from Sexton, he had obviously made his mind up who was starting next week. For me Madigan can start next week as I don’t want PJ coming back to Ulster battered, bruised and devoid of confidence if he was to play in the same Ireland team that showed up on Saturday

  2. bowe was terrible in defence, caught out badly, no coincidence the aussies picked his wing to attack, obrien needs to learn an offload, all the time went in to contact, but it was the lack of leadership and passion that pisses me right off

  3. Conor Murray should have started,Pj should have been on bench, sexton was always a risk. Tom court twice the player archer will ever be, and dare I say it bod past his best.
